Abstract :
This study aims to find out about the existence of the traditional gong dance of the Rawa Anak Rawa Village, Penyengat Village, Sungai Apit District, Siak Regency, Riau Province. The research method is descriptive, data analysis, qualitative research amounted to 9 people as resource persons, data collection techniques namely, (1) observation, (2) interviews, (3) documentation of the existence of Dance theory used is theory according to Hamidi Law (2003:31) .Which states that the elements of dance include: (1) Motion, (2) Floor Design, (3) Top Design, (4) Music, (5) Dramatic Design, (6) Dynamics, (7) Group Composition, (8 ) Theme, (9) Equipment, (10) Lighting, (11) Audience. The function of this Gong Dance is as a traditional ceremony and other major events in the village of Penyengat. As for the variety of movements used in the art of gong dance, namely: opening prayer motion, forward movement, mareneh movement, closing prayer movement.
