Abstract :
This study aims to find out how Calempong Baoguong music performances at Silat Perisai in Empat Balai Village, Kuok District, Kampar Regency, Riau Province. Edi Sedyawati (1981:60) says that performing arts is a phenomenon or event that aims to show or present a work of art to the public, and also says that performing arts if it contains elements including (a) time is an opportunity used by performers, (b) place is used as a performance, (c) performer is a performance performed by one or more people. (d) audience is a connoisseur who is always present to watch a show. This research uses descriptive analysis method with interactive qualitative data. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews, and documentation. This study uses data analysis techniques, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions/verification. From the results of the research on Calempong Baoguong performances in Silat Perisai, conclusions can be drawn which the authors discuss in chapter V. When the Calempong Baoguong music performances in Silat Perisai are held at weddings, ninik mamak, and festivals. The place where Calempong Baoguong music performs is usually in the courtyard of the house or in the pavilion. There are 5 players or members of the Calempong Baoguong musicians in the show. The audience at the Calempong Baoguong musical performance at Silat Perisai is children, the elderly/elderly, and teenagers. The musical elements analyzed are rhythm, melody, harmony and timbre. All the elements that are part of the calempong baoguong music as an accompaniment to the silat shield will be discussed one by one
