Abstract :
This research was aims to determine the profile of the science / biology laboratory and find out the competencies of teachers in the management of science / biology laboratories SMPN 8 and SMPN 25 Pekanbaru academic year 2017/2018. This research is a quantitative research with descriptive analysis. The sample in this study was the head of the Science / Biology laboratory of SMPN 8 and SMPN 25 Pekanbaru. Data obtained through observation sheets, questionnaires, interviews, and recording documents. From the results of the study on the profile of the Science / Biology laboratory in SMPN 8 Pekanbaru, obtained an average percentage of 88.14% categorized as very complete means in accordance with Permendiknas No. 24 of 2007. And the results on the profile of the Science / Biology laboratory in SMPN 25 Pekanbaru, obtained an average percentage of 86.52% categorized as very complete means also in accordance with Permendiknas No. 24 of 2007. Whereas from the results of the research on the competencies of teachers in the science / biology laboratory in SMPN 8 Pekanbaru, the average percentage was 60.15% categorized as sufficiently competent, meaning that it was in accordance with Permendiknas No. 26 of 2008. And the results of the competency of teachers of the science / biology laboratory in SMPN 25 Pekanbaru, obtained an average percentage of 53.60% categorized as sufficiently competent means that it is in accordance with Permendiknas No. 26 of 2008. It can be concluded that the infrastructure and management of science laboratories in SMPN 8 and SMPN 25 Pekanbaru are in conformity with Permendiknas No. 24 of 2007 and Permendiknas No. 26 of 2008
