Abstract :
The research entitled "Test the Effectiveness of Several Concentrations of Areca Seed Extract (Areca catechu L.) With Two Ways of Application Against Grayak Caterpillars (Spodoptera litura F.) in the Laboratory". Supervised by Mrs. Dr. Ir. Saripah Ulpah, M.Sc. The purpose of this study was to determine the interaction effect and the main effect of various concentrations of betel nut solution in two ways of application to armyworm pests. This research has been carried out in the Entomology laboratory of PT. Arara Abadi, Jl. Raya Minas-Perawang KM. 26 Pinang Sebatang Village, Tualang District, Komp. IKPP Perawang, Kab. Siak. This research has been carried out for two months, starting from September 2019-October 2019. The design used was a factorial completely randomized design (CRD), where the first factor was the concentration level of areca nut solution consisting of 6 levels as follows: control, 15 g/ liter of water, 30 gr/liter of water, 45 gr/liter of water, 60 gr/liter of water, 75 gr/liter of water and the second factor is the application method consisting of 2 levels of treatment, the direct method and the leaf dipping method with 4 replications so that 48 units are obtained. trial. The parameters observed were the percentage of larval mortality, the percentage of larvae becoming pupae and the percentage of pupae becoming imago. Observational data were analyzed statistically and further tested by BNJ at the 5% level. From the results of data analysis showed that the administration of various levels of concentration of areca nut solution and the way of application of areca nut solution in an interactive manner significantly affected the observation parameters of the percentage of larval mortality, the percentage of larvae becoming pupae and the percentage of pupae becoming imago. The best treatment combination is with a solution concentration of 75 g/liter of water and the application technique is the leaf dipping method. For the main treatment, the concentration of areca nut solution had a significant effect on all observation parameters, with the best treatment being the concentration of areca nut solution of 75 g/liter of water.
