Abstract :
This research aims to determine whether there is relationship between smartphone addiction and nomophobia among students of the Faculty of Psyhcology Islamic University of Riau. This study contained 277 samples of students from Faculty of Psychology Islamic University of Riau who participated and were selected using a sampling method, namely accidental sampling. The data collection method in this research using smartphone addiction scale by Kwon (2013) and the nomophobia scale by Yildirim and Correia (2015). The data analysis used in this research is Spearman Ranks correlation and showed a correlation coefficient of 0,706 with a significance value 0.000 (p<0,05). Results of this study indicate that there is a significant relationship with positive direction between nomophobia and smartphone addiction in students of Faculty of Psychology Islamic University of Riau. This means that the higher the level of smartphone addiction, the higher the level of nomophobia and vice versa. The effective contribution of this study was 0.466 which means that smartphone addiction contributed 46.6% to nomophobia.
