Abstract :
The research is located on the Riau ? West Sumatra highway km 160, with slope lithology is conglomerates and sand. The purpose of this research is to find out the types of failures stability and their mitigation using Geotechnical studies, namely Rock Mass Rating (RMR), kinematic analysis and Slope Mass Rating (SMR). Three scanlines with a limit of 11 m each have been investigated to determine the value of the RMR. UCS values from the slope are grouped into medium stones (20-50 MPa) to strong (100-250 MPa). RQD variations ranged from 85% to 96.4% due to differences in weathering class. The distance of the discontinuity ranges from 0.006 - 0, 2m with rough surfaces and humid slope conditions. The average RMR value is 33.6. Therefore, the slope is classified as Class IV (Poor). Kinematic analysis reveals that the slope has possibility of planar type. Based on the results of the RMR and Kinematic, SMR analysis can be determine and occurred of the slope. The SMR value is 48.66 can be obtained so that it can be concluded that the slopes in the study area are included in class III (normal) with partially stable slope conditions. The description has joint strength and the support needed in a systematic way.
