Abstract :
Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi pengaruh pemanfaatan video Voice of America
Learning English Channel sebagai media pembelajaran terhadap kemampuan
berbicara siswa kelas delapan di SMPN 50 Jakarta. Penelitian ini menggunakan
metode quasi eksperimen. Jumlah sampel yang dijadikan bahan penelitian sebanyak
70 siswa di bagi menjadi dua kelompok. Kelompok eksperimen dan kontrol, untuk
eksperimen bentuk pengajarannya menggunakan video sedangkan kelompok kontrol
menggunakan teks tertulis atau tanpa video. Kelompok eksperimen memperoleh skor
rata-rata 61,509, tergolong tingkat rata-rata, lebih tinggi dari skor rata-rata pretest
47,900. Hasil data menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan berbicara siswa meningkat
setelah perlakuan. Hasil analisis statistik tingkat signifikansi bukti ini. Untuk menilai
data, rumus uji-t digunakan. Menurut sampel independen, hasil post-test menunjukkan
signifikansi (2-tailed) adalah 0,001 < 0,05. Artinya Ho ditolak dan Ha diterima.
Berdasarkan hasil analisis, berarti ada keefektifan penggunaan video VoA Learning
English Channel untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa kelas VIII SMPN
50 Jakarta karena video VoA Learning English Channel dapat meningkatkan aktivitas
siswa. Selain itu dapat membantu agar siswa tidak bosan selama proses kegiatan
belajar berlangsung. video VoA Learning English Channel dapat mendorong siswa
untuk lebih tertarik berdiskusi dan antusias dalam belajar bahasa Inggris, khususnya
kemampuan berbicara.

pembelajaran. / This research discusses the effect of using the Voice of America Learning English
Channel video as a teaching medium on the speaking abilities of class VIII students at
SMPN 50 Jakarta. This research uses a quasi-experimental method. The number of
samples used as research objects was 70 students divided into two groups. The
experimental and control groups were taught using video while the control group was
taught using written text or without video. The experimental group achieved a mean
score of 61.509, classified as an average level, higher than the pretest mean score of
47.900. The data results show that students' speaking abilities improved after
treatment. The results of statistical analysis indicate the level of significance of this
evidence. To assess the data, the t-test formula is used. According to the independent
sample, the post-test results show significance (2-tailed) is 0.001 < 0.05. This means
that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. Based on the analysis result, it means that there
is effectiveness in using VoA Learning English Channel videos to improve the
speaking skills of class VIII students at SMPN 50 Jakarta because VoA Learning
English Channel videos can increase student activity. In addition, it can prevent
students from becoming disinterested while they learn. The videos from the VoA
Learning English Channel can inspire students to actively engage in discussions and
develop a keen interest in learning English, especially speaking skills.
