Abstract :
Merokok merupakan salah satu faktor risiko penyebab kematian yang sulit untuk
dicegah dalam masyarakat. Merokok dapat menimbulkan radikal bebas dalam
tubuh, salah satunya terhadap kolesterol. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui
hubungan durasi lama merokok dan frekuensi merokok terhadap kadar kolesterol
total serta perbandingan kadar kolesterol total pada perokok dan bukan perokok.
Jenis penelitian ini adalah observasional analitik, menggunakan pendekatan cross
sectional, dengan jumlah sampel sebesar 80 responden yang diambil menggunakan
teknik purposive sampling. Responden yang tidak merokok memiliki kadar
kolesterol total normal sebanyak 40 orang (100%). Sementara pada perokok aktif
16 orang (40%) memiliki kadar kolesterol normal, 23 orang (57,5%) memiliki kadar
kolesterol ambang batas tinggi dan 1 orang (2,5%) memiliki kadar kolesterol tinggi.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat korelasi positif yang signifikan antara lama
merokok dan frekuensi merokok terhadap kadar kolesterol total.
Kata Kunci : Merokok, Kadar Kolesterol Total. / Smoking is a risk factor for the cause of death that is difficult to prevent in society.
Smoking can cause free radicals in the body, one of them is againts cholesterol. The
research aims to find out the relationship between duration of smoking and
frequency of smoking against cholesterol levels also to know comparison
cholesterol level between a smoker and non smoker. This type of research is
observasional analytic, using cross-sectional approach, the samples were 80
respondents, taken by using purposive sampling technique. Non smoker respondents
had normal total cholesterol were 40 respondents (100%). Meanwhile active smoker,
16 respondents (40%) had normal total cholesterol, 23 respondents (57,5%) had high
threshold and 1 respondent (2,5%) had high cholesterol levels. The results showed
significant positive correlation between duration of smoking and frequency of
smoking against total cholesterol levels.
