Abstract :
Menjaga kebersihan mulut dan gigi berguna untuk mencegah terjadinya plak gigi.
Berkumur dengan obat kumur klorheksidin glukonat 0.2% dapat mengurangi plak gigi
serta menghindari infeksi oportunistik. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui efektivitas
penggunaan obat kumur klorheksidin glukonat 0.2% terhadap penurunan jumlah dan
jenis bakteri plak gigi pada mahasiswa FK UKI tahun 2018. Penelitian ini dilakukan
secara eksperimental dengan mengusap plak gigi sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan. Lima
belas sampel mahasiswa memenuhi kriteria inklusi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan
obat kumur klorheksidin glukonat 0.2% mengurangi jumlah bakteri sebesar 99%. Hasil
uji T independent p<0.001 dan uji wilcoxon p<0.001. Hal ini berarti ada perbedaan
signifikan jumlah bakteri sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan serta ada hubungan antara
penggunaan klorheksidin glukonat 0.2% dengan penurunan jumlah bakteri. Hasil
identifikasi penelitian ini ditemukan bakteri Gram positif. Kesimpulan obat kumur
klorheksidin efektif mengurangi jumlah bakteri Gram positif pada plak gigi.

chlorhexidin gluconate 0.2% can decrease plaques as well as an opportunistic infection.
This research aims to understand the effectivity of chlorhexidin gluconate 0.2%
towards decrease the amount and type of bacterial in dental plaques in medical students
of UKI. The method used in this research is experiment by taking dental plaque swabs
before and after the treatment. Fifteen samples fits the inclusion criteria. Results
showed that chlorhexidin gluconate 0.2% decreases the amount of bacteria by 99%. T
Independent test showed there is a significant differences between the amount of
bacterial before and after treatment (p<0.001). Wilcoxon test showed that there is a
correlation between using chlorhexidin gluconate 0.2% with the decerase in the
amount of bacterial. (p<0.001). Identification of bacterial shows Gram positive
bacillus. In conclusion, chlorhexidin gluconate 0.2% is effective in reducing the
amount of dental plaques bacterial, espescially the Gram positive bacterial.
