Abstract :
Staphylococcus aureus merupakan flora normal yang dapat berubah
menjadi patogen ketika seseorang mengalami kondisi imunokompromais. Salah
satu permasalahan yang ditimbulkan oleh Staphylococcus aureus yaitu resistensi
pengobatan terhadap antibiotik golongan ?-laktam termasuk penicillin dan
turunannya. Kegagalan pengobatan ini memunculkan galur baru spesies
Staphylococcus aureus yang dikenal sebagai Metichilin-Resistant Staphylococcus
aureus (MRSA). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan mendeteksi
kemungkinan karier MRSA pada mahasiswa angkatan 2016 Fakultas Kedokteran
Universitas Kristen Indonesia. Metode yang digunakan yaitu eksperimental
observasional dengan 30 sampel isolat swab nasal. Hasil penelitian didapatkan
sebanyak 3 sampel (10%) dinyatakan positif karier MRSA setelah dilakukan uji
standar pedoman Clinical and Laboratory Standart Institute (CLSI) dan
European Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (EUCAST).

Staphylococcus aureus. / Staphylococcus aureus is a normal flora that can turn into a pathogen
when a person experiences an immunocompromised condition. One of the
problems caused by Staphylococcus aureus is treatment resistance to ?-lactam
antibiotics including penicillin and its derivatives. This treatment failure led to a
new strain of Staphylococcus aureus species known as Metichilin-Resistant
Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). This study aims to identify and detect the
possibility of MRSA careers in the 2016 batch of Medical Faculty students at the
Indonesian Christian University. The method used is observational experimental
with 30 samples of nasal swab isolates. The results obtained as many as 3 samples
(10%) tested positive for MRSA careers after a sensitivity test with Müller-Hinton
Agar (MHA) using the Kirby-Baüer disk diffusion test method, the antibiotic used
was Cefoxitin 30 ?g (Oxoid Limited, Hampshire, UK ), the inhibition zones
formed are measured according to the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute
(CLSI) guidelines and the European Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility
Testing (EUCAST).
