Abstract :
Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk menunjukkan kondisi sosial masyarakat Indonesia pasca-kemerdekaan yang digambarkan dalam tiga cerita pendek: Black Semarang oleh Soemantri, The Decline of Local Prayer House oleh A.A. Navis, dan Miracle at Senen Market oleh Misbach Yusa Biran. Cerita pendek Black Semarang oleh Soemantri menggambarkan ketidakadilan yang dialami oleh masyarakat kelas bawah yang hidup dalam kemiskinan, serta dampak kriminalitas terhadap keadilan sosial di masyarakat. Cerita pendek The Decline of Local Prayer House mengisahkan tentang rumah ibadah yang dulunya merupakan pusat kegiatan spiritual, kini mulai ditinggalkan oleh masyarakat, mencerminkan perubahan sosial dan pergeseran nilai-nilai tradisional. Sementara itu, Miracle at Senen Market oleh Misbach Yusa Biran mengangkat kehidupan sehari-hari di pasar Senen dengan segala keterbatasannya, serta menyoroti keajaiban dan harapan di tengah kesulitan hidup. Penulis menggunakan metode penelitian kepustakaan dengan pendekatan teori elemen intrinsik dan ekstrinsik. Hasil penelitian ini mengungkapkan perbedaan kondisi sosial di Indonesia pasca-kemerdekaan, reaksi karakter terhadap kondisi tersebut, serta pesan yang disampaikan tentang kondisi sosial Indonesia setelah kemerdekaan. Setiap cerita pendek memberikan gambaran unik mengenai kondisi sosial pasca-kemerdekaan, dengan reaksi karakter yang beragam dan pesan yang berhubungan dengan perubahan sosial yang terjadi pada masa itu. / This paper aims to show the social conditions of Indonesian society after independence as depicted in three short stories: Black Semarang by Soemantri, The Decline of Local Prayer House by A.A. Navis, and Miracle at Senen Market by Misbach Yusa Biran. The short story Black Semarang by Soemantri depicts the injustice experienced by the lower class living in poverty and the impact of crime on social justice in society. The short story The Decline of Local Prayer House tells the story of a house of worship that used to be a center of spiritual activities, now starting to be abandoned by society, reflecting social change and the shift in traditional values. Meanwhile, Miracle at Senen Market by Misbach Yusa Biran highlights daily life in the Senen market with all its limitations and highlights miracles and hopes amidst life's difficulties. The writer uses a library research method with an approach to the theory of intrinsic and extrinsic elements. The results of this study reveal the differences in social conditions in Indonesia after independence, the characters' reactions to these conditions, and the messages conveyed about the social conditions of Indonesia after independence. Each short story provides a unique picture of the post-independence social conditions, with diverse character reactions and messages related to the social changes.
