Abstract :
Translating is the process of transferring meaning from the source language to the target language so that the reader understands the message the translator wants to convey. Peter New Mark categorizes translation methods oriented to source languages and translation methods oriented to the target language. This study aims to describe the ability of students to translate using the translation method. The film used by the translator is the Coco film produced by Disney Animation released in 2017. According to 22 data analyzed by the writer, there are 8 objects of verb, 11 objects of preposition and 3 gerund phrases. The writer also found there are 17 data that use literal translation method and 5 data that use communicative translation method. Keywords: Translation, Translation Method, Subtitling, Gerund.
