Abstract :
The purpose of this study was to determine whether the online media coverage of rape affect the level of fear of women using public transportation and how much influence it. The theory used to discuss the study is Individual Difference Theory-Melvin DeFleur, said individuals as members of the audience to selectively pay attention to the messages, especially when relating to the interests and beliefs, which is supported by the values of its response to the messages were modified by psychological order. To reinforce the above theory, the authors also used the Social Learning Theory, the social learning through media scrutiny. Response / individual action came after observing the message the media either directly or indirectly. The research method used in this research is survey method. The student population used FISIPOL UKI Force 2007-2011, which bersampel 65 people taken using stratified random sampling. Conclusions This study of the influence of Media Coverage Of The Fear Women Online Users Angkot of 0.350 (35%) and the remaining 65% are influenced by other factors are held constant, so it can be said to have the relationship is not strong enough yet.
