Abstract :
Penulisan ini bertujuan untuk menunjukkan serta menganalisis penggunaan gaya bahasa dalam interaksi antar tokoh pada film The Help (2010). Sebuah film yang menunjukkan permasalahan rasisme di Amerika Serikat sekitar tahun 1960-an. Film tersebut menceritakan tentang ketidakadilan dari majikan kulit putih terhadap ART kulit hitam. Penggunaan gaya bahasa dalam film tersebut menunjukkan perbedaan kelas sosial antara dua kubu tersebut. Gaya bahasa merupakan variasi bahasa yang memperlihatkan perbedaan dimana penggunaan gaya bahasa tersebut bergantung kepada siapa penggunanya, dimana digunakannya, dan kepada siapa ditujukkan. Dalam hal ini penulis, mengunakan teori dari Holmes yang menjelaskan bahwa penerima/lawan bicara memiliki pengaruh gaya bahasa dimana cara-cara tersebut bisa terlihat atau dapat diketahui melalui sebuah ujaran yang dipengaruhi oleh lawan bicara serta membangun konteks dimana bahasa atau pilihan gaya dalam berbahasa tersebut digunakan. Faktor penting lainnya yang berkontribusi terhadap pilihan gaya bahasa yaitu fitur gaya bahasa dalam berbagai konteks yang bervariasi dalam formalitas, yang dimana terdapat interaksi antara dimensi formalitas dan status. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengidentifikasi penggunaan gaya bahasa setiap tokoh dalam film serta mengetahui bagaimana para tokoh menggunakan gaya bahasa mereka kepada lawan bicaranya. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori style, register, and context yang dikemukakan oleh Holmes untuk melakukan analisis penggunaan gaya bahasa terhadap para tokoh-tokoh yang terjadi pada percakapan film ?The Help?. Dalam penelitian ini penulis menemukan 15 data yang menggunakan penggunaan gaya bahasa yang berbeda disetiap tokoh-tokoh pada film. Kemudian dari penelitian ini penulis dapat menyimpulkan bahwa teori yang dikemukakan oleh Holmes sangat berpengaruh terhadap penggunaan gaya bahasa yang terjadi pada ujaran film ?The Help?. Kata kunci: penggunaan, interaksi, variasi, bahasa, konteks / This writing aims to show and analyze the use of language style in the interaction between characters in the film The Help (2010). A film that shows the problem of racism in the United States around the 1960s. The film tells the story of the injustice of white employers towards black domestic workers. The use of language style in the film shows the difference in social class between the two camps. Language style is a variation of language that shows the difference where the use of the language style depends on who the user is, where it is used, and to whom it is addressed. In this case, the author uses the theory of Holmes which explains that the recipient / interlocutor has the influence of language style where these ways can be seen or can be known through an utterance that is influenced by the interlocutor and builds the context in which the language or choice of style in language is used. . Another important factor that contributes to the choice of language style is the stylistic features in various contexts that vary in formality, where there is an interaction between the dimensions of formality and status. The purpose of this study is to identify the use of language style of each character in the film and to find out how the characters use their language style to the interlocutor. This study uses the theory of style, register, and context proposed by Holmes to analyze the use of language style for the characters that occur in the conversation of the film "The Help". In this study, the authors found 15 data that used the use of different language styles for each character in the film. Then from this research the writer can conclude that the theory put forward by Holmes greatly influences the use of language style that occurs in the speech of the film "The Help".
