Abstract :
Kota Tanjungpandan adalah Ibukota Kabupaten Belitung, sebuah kota kecil mandiri terletak diwilayah pesisir barat pulau Belitung, memiliki sejarah kota, alam pesisir yang indah dan alami, kultur masyarakat lokal yang humanis dan sederhana. Kota ini didukung keberadaan elemen fisik kota yang berkarakteristik lokal, diantaranya tugu kota, gerbang kawasan, bangunan bersejarah dan kawasan pesisir kota. Elemen kota ini telah menjadi identitas kota yang diharapkan dapat menjalankan peran utama sebagai Landmark, District, Path, Nodes dan Edges secara optimal dalam membentuk citra kota Tanjungpandan, sebagaimana pandangan para ahli diantaranya Kevin Lynch yang didukung pula dengan teori Gestalt. Kemajuan industri pawisata nasional, telah menempatkan pulau Belitung sebagai salah satu destinasi wisata unggulan nasional, sehingga kota Tanjungpandan semakin gencar membenahi kotanya sebagai pintu gerbang dan wajah depan pulau Belitung. Pembangunan fisik kota tumbuh berkembang memberi warna baru pada wajah kota Tanjungpandan. Kota ini bermetamorfosa menjadi kota wisata modern, tanpa disadari elemen-elemen kota yang tadinya berperan penting dalam membentuk citra kota, dikhawatirkan kehilangan identitas dan karakteristik lokalnya, tidak lagi menjadi pusat perhatian, dan tergeserkan dengan kehadiran bangunan-bangunan baru. Berangkat dari potret kota Tanjungpandan kekinian, penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengkaji kembali peran elemen-elemen kota tersebut, melalui metode penelitian dengan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, menginventarisir kembali kekayaan elemen-elemen kota yang memiliki karakteristik lokal, mendalami permasalahan dan kelemahannya, melakukan analisa dan evaluasi, mem-branding-nya kembali melalui pendekatan konsep perancangan arsitektur dan perencanaan kota, merujuk pandangan dan teori para ahli. Hasil penelitian adalah berupa optimalisasi kualitas dan peran elemen-elemen utama kota dengan kekhasan karakteristik lokalnya, selanjutnya akan menjadi masukan untuk pemerintah daerah membenahi elemen-elemen kota tersebut, sehingga perannya dalam membentuk citra kota tanjungpandan dengan kekhasan karakteristik lokal terealisasi optimal, dapat diakses dengan mudah melalui dukungan sistem transportasi publik yang baik. Kata Kunci: Ibu Kota, Pariwisata, Elemen, Citra Kota./ Tanjungpandan city is the capital of Belitung regency. A small independent city located in the western coastal region of the island of Belitung. This city has history of the city, beautiful and natural coastal nature, humane and simple local culture. This condition Supported also by the existence of physical elements of the city with local characteristics, including city monuments, regional gates, historical buildings and coastal areas of the city. These elements of the city elements have become the identity of the city which is expected to play a major role as a landmark, district, nodes, path and edge, optimaly in shaping the image of the city of tanjungpandan, as the views of experts including Kevin Lynch are also supported by Gestalt theory. The progress of the national tourism industry has placed the Belitung islands as one of the leading national tourist destinations.This situation pushed Tanjungpandan city to reform the city, taking a strategic role as the gate and front face of the Belitung island. The physical development of the developing city gives a new color of Tanjungpandan. This city metamorphosed into a modern tourist city. But Without realizing the elemens of the city that had played an important role in shaping the image of the city, it is feared that they will lose their identity and local characteristics, no longer the center of attention and are displaced by the presence of new buildings. Starting from the portrait of the contemporary city of Tanjungpandan, this research will be conducted on the existence of elements of the city elements through a descriptive qualitative approach. Reinvented the wealth of elements of the city elements with their specific local characteristics. Esplore the problems and weaknesses, and try to compare it again through the approach of architectural design concepts and urban planning with reference to the views and theories of experts. The results of the research are in the form of optimizing the qualty and role of the main elements of the city with the specificity of their local characteristics, then it will be an input for the local government to fix the elements of the city, so that its role in shaping the image of the city of Tanjungpandan with the uniqueness of local characteristics is optimally realized, can be accessed easily through support good public transport system.
