Abstract :
This study aims to describe conflict in the movie by James Cameron, titled Avatar. It focused on analysis of internal and external conflicts that occurred between characters. The source of the data was the utterances or conversations in the movie script. Methodology of research was descriptive qualitative method and the study applied documentation method to collect the data. In technique of analyzing the data was obtains by identification, classification, and analyzing. The result showed that in Avatar directed by James Cameron contained of internal conflict and external conflict, they are Man vs. Man, Man vs. Fate, Man vs. Nature, and Man vs. Society. Based on classified, all kinds of external conflict occurred in the main character, and the other kinds occurred in the other characters. Based on analysis, it concluded that external conflict dominated by Man vs. Man, there is conflict among character.
