ABSTRACT
The high roadside activities may cause disruption to the traffic flow movement. Traffic conflicts such as delays have the potential to make congestion, as happened in the segment of Jalan R. Soekamto Segment Angkatan 66 towards Simpang Patal, Palembang.
Congestion can reduce the traffic comfort and safety for road users, reduce travel speeds, and add travel time as well as raise the vehicle operation costs. This research was conducted by surveys of road geometric, traffic volumes, side frictions and vehicle speeds on the road segment R. Soekamto Segment Angkatan 66 towards Simpang Patal intersection which has been divided into three segments with different road side activities.
The result showed that there is a different performance of each segment of the road. When roadside activity is getting higher, road capacity is getting lower and degree of saturation is getting higher. With the high level of road side activity, the total delay for taking along the 800 meter segment of Jalan R. Soekamto Segment Angkatan 66 towards Simpang Patal is 94 seconds.
