Abstract :
Flood that occurred at Cempaka Putih street Kel.Kebun Bunga Kec.Sukarami Km.9 Kota Palembang in the past few years became a flood that often occurs when the heavy intensity rain hit the area. The visible drainage system is no longer able to hold the amount of water discharge, resulting the overflow of water from the drainage channel along the road of Cempaka Putih street Kel.Kebun Bunga Kec.Sukarami Km.9 Palembang. Flood prevention can be done by knowing the factors causing the flood, they are: the intensity of rainfall is very large, the condition of the channel that is not functioning properly, the dimension of the existing channel is not large and the number of sediment piles and garbage clogging the channel. From the analysis of the dimensions that causes of flooding on Cempaka Putih street Kel.Kebun Bunga Kec.Sukarami Km.9 Kota Palembang is known to be no longer able to accommodate high rainfall discharge because of sediment build up and garbage clogging the channels, so to overcome the floods it needs to be normalized with dredging the sediment build up and garbage, and for long term anticipation a new drainage flow system is needed to allow the flow of rain water to flow properly.
