Joint pain can interfere or restrict many activities. ROM excercise (range of
motion) is to preserve and maintain muscle strength and joint mobility. The
purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of the ROM (range of motion) to
decrease joint pain in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in Wates Hamlet
Pandanan Village Duduksampeyan district Gresik.
The research design uses pre-experimental design with pre and post test design
with simple random sampling. The population of 33 people and the sample of 31
people. Analysis with SPSS for Windows version 16.0 with Wilcoxon sign rank
test.
Based on the research obtained that before gets the ROM that most of the elderly
has moderate pain 19 respondents (61.3%), a fraction of the elderly has severe
controlled pain by 8 respondents (25.8%) and mild pain 4 respondents (12, 9%).
After gets active ROM most of the elderly has mild joint pain 16 people (51.6%)
and almost half of the elderly has joint pain are 15 people (48.4%). The results of
the statistical tests to the influence of the ROM (range of motion) to decrease joint
pain used SPSS version 16.0 with the Wilcoxon sign rank test obtained value Z=-
4.472 and p=0,000 where p <0.05.
Refer to the results, so it needs to give an active ROM (Rage of Motion),cause it
can reduce joint pain in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA).
