ABSTRACT
Tsabit, Fuad, 2015. Correlation between Interest in becoming a nurse with
student achievement of S1 Nursing courses of VII semester of the
academic year 2014-2015 in STIKES Muhammadiyah year 2015. Essay

Learning achievement is inseparable from learning activity, because learning is a
process, while academic achievement is the output of the learning process. The
purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of between interest in
becoming a nurse with student academic achievement in STIKES Muhammadiyah
Lamongan S1 Nursing courses.
This research design using analytic correlation with cross sectional approach. This
study was condu
cted starting from February up to March 2015. The sample taken was 88 out of
144 with a simple random sampling method. Data collecting using closed
questionnaires and observation. Data were analyzed using rank test spearmen.
The results showed more than half (71.6%) student interested in becoming a nurse
in the category of moderate, more than half (89.8%) students academic
achievement was in the category of very satisfactory. Based on rank spearmen
test results obtained the correlation coefficient 0.490 with a significance of P =
0.000 <0.05 so there is a connection between interest in becoming a nurse with
student achievement of S1 Nursing courses.
From these results it can be concluded that students who have a high interest in
becoming a nurse has high academic achievement and students who have
moderate interest in becoming a nurse, then the academic achievement also
moderate. For educational institutions, should enhance the learning achievement
of students by improving the quality of teaching and learning processes,
infrastructure and adequate human resources.
