Abstract :
Poetry is a form of literary work that can express thoughts and feelings of poets imaginatively that is full of beauty. In the context of poetry, the term "poetic" has particular significance. Poetry, when delivered via digital media, not only acts as an additional source of motivation for students, but it also aids in the building of learning communities and promotes a greater awareness of cross-cultural perspectives. The aim of this study was to analyze how does multimedia and interactive tools influence student engagement and interest in poetry as a medium for teaching English. This research uses a descriptive qualitative phenomenology, and the data was acquired in May until July with the participants is seventh semester of English Study Program students in Muhammadiyah University of Mataram. To collect the data, the researcher used semi-structured by using observation, interview, quesionnaire, and recording. The result of the study showed that multimedia tools dramatically increase student interest and engagement students can develop their vocabulary, sharpen their pronunciation, encourage creative writing, and acquire new language and grammar skills through poetry in teaching English in the technology era but also has disadvantages, like students have trouble pronouncing the terms correctly inadequate vocabulary. Lack of vocabulary will be a problem if students wish to learn a language through poetry since they have trouble translating from English into Indonesian
