Abstract :
This study aims to determine the effect of using English
Pronunciation application in improving pronunciation skills on the 10th
Grade Students? at Islamic Centre High School especially on the
Labiodental Fricatives /f/ and /v/. The method used in this research is
quantitative experiment with pretest-posttest control group design. The
population of this study were grade X students at Islamic Centre High
School totaling 199 students who were divided into two groups:
Experimental group for class X.4 which was given treatment by using
English Pronunciation application and control class for class X.3 which used
conventional learning method. Data was collected through audio recordings
of student?s pronunciation which was analyzed using the Cambridge
Dictionary tool with American accent. The data obtained were analyzed
using t-test to determine the significant difference between the learning
outcomes of the two groups. The results showed that there was no significant
difference between the learning outcomes of students who used the English
Pronunciation Application and students who used conventional learning
methods. However, the English Pronunciation application can be said to be
good because it increases the post-test score in the Experiment class. With
the results of Hypothesis testing on the post-test value Sig. (2 tailed) > 0.05
with details (0.120 > 0.05) then H0 is accepted and Ha is rejected and the
mean on the post-test in the Experiment class and control class proves that
the experimental post-test mean is greater than the control class post-test
mean with details (78.36 > 75.27).
