Abstract :
This research discusses important issues that limit to students' reading
comprehension and engagement, especially their disinterest in reading, limited
vocabulary and lack of motivation. In addition, this research also highlights the
problems of including effective use of new media into reading comprehension
classes. This study examined whether the use of Literacy Cloud significantly
improved the reading comprehension skills of grade 7 students at SMP Negeri 2
Pagedangan. Employing a quantitative research methodology, this research
involved two classes a controlled group and an experimental group with total of
sample 80 students. The research process included a pre-test, three treatment
sessions, and a post-test. Analysis of the hypothesis test results showed that the
Tcount 3.106 > Ttable 1.990 at the 5% significance level. This indicates a
significant positive effect of using Literacy Cloud in improving reading
comprehension skills, thus accepting the alternative hypothesis (Ha). This finding
highlights the effectiveness of the Literacy Cloud website in improving students'
reading comprehension, and suggests its potentially beneficial application in
educational environments.
