Abstract :
This research aims to describe the effect of Poro App in reducing students'
vocabulary mastery. This research was carried out at SMPN 20 Tangerang City,
class VII, second semester of the 2023/2024 academic year. The method used in
this research is quasi experiment and sampling using random sampling. The
research sample consisted of 36 experimental class students and 36 control class
students. Based on the results of the pre-test and post-test, it shows that the
experimental class had a more significant improvement by using the Poro App as
media compared to the control class which did not use the Poro App as media. You
can see the comparison of the average pre-test score for the experimental class with
the average post-test score for the experimental class, namely with a pre-test score
of 57.89 and a post-test score of 83.56. From this data we can see the range of
average scores before and after using treatment for the experimental class.
Meanwhile, the control class also had an increase, although it was not significant,
with a pre-test score of 70.89 and a post-test score of 81.67. hypothesis calculation
using the t-test, namely the paired simple t-test and the sig value obtained is 0.000
and this value is smaller than 0.05 (0.000=0.05), then H0 is rejected. This proves
that there is an influence of the Poro App on increasing the English vocabulary of
class VII students at SMPN 20 Tangerang City.
