Abstract :
This research is entitled "The Effect of Roundtable Strategy in Improving Eight Grade Students' Writing Descriptive Text at Smp An-Nuqthah". This study aims to determine the effect of using Roundtable strategy on students' descriptive text writing ability at SMP AN-NUQTHAH Tangerang. This study used a quasi-experimental design with non?equivalent control group. The research subjects consisted of VIII grade students who were divided into two groups: the experimental class that used the Roundtable strategy and the control class that used the conventional method. Data were obtained through pre?test and post-test which were then analyzed using t-test. The results showed that there was a significant effect of Roundtable strategy on students' descriptive text writing ability. Data analysis using t-test showed that the t value of the experimental class was 15.006, greater than the t value of the control class which amounted to -1.875.The significant value of the test (2-tailed) of the experimental class was 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a significant improvement in writing ability in the experimental class compared to the control class.The results showed that there was a significant difference between the writing ability of students taught with the Roundtable strategy and those taught with the conventional method. Students in the experimental class showed greater improvement in descriptive text writing ability compared to students in the control class. This shows that the Roundtable strategy is effective in improving students' writing ability
