In society, when person dominate another person or class
through language, expression, domination action or symbolically
instead of physically it can be said as symbolic violence. To do
symbolic violence, people need right capital and habitus that it would
be fight over in the arena.
The purpose of this study is to explain the symbolic violence as
described in Sing Street movie (2016), and to analyze the responses of
symbolic violence in Sing Street movie (2016). To answer the research
questions that are formulated as follows : (1) ?What are the symbolic
violence described by Conor Lanor as the main character of Sing Street
movie (2016)?? and (2) ?How are the responses of Conor Lanor
towards to the symbolic violence as reflected in Sing Street movie
(2016)??
This research is qualitative data using descriptive
interpretation method and documentation technique to collect the data.
While, to analyze the data, the researcher used theoretical and miseen-scene analysis. Based on the data analysis, the symbolic violence
which the main character Conor Lanor (cosmo) experienced is in form
of dominance of the power, the exploration of obeyed the rule, forcing
and insulting. While, the response of Conor Lanor (cosmo) toward
symbolic violence is keep silent, and challenging, changing his
fashion style, and make a band with his friend.
