Abstract :
The use of language in certain fields is commonly well known as registers where they have different meanings and social functions. The purpose of this research is to find the kinds of registers in Hotels? Signage. To describe the registers of hotels' signage, this research is designed in qualitative method because the data were taken in the forms of words or phrases as well as long expressions from the 3-star and 4-star hotels in Surabaya. The data, then, were analyzed using descriptive analysis and semantic analysis especially in Lexical Relation. The findings of this research showed that the Signage of the hotels in Surabaya has five groups that have Limited Envelope Register and Open Envelope Register, which have three categories, that is, Single Words, Phrases, and Long Expression. The result of this research is proving that have two kinds of registers used by Hotels? Signage, there are Limited Envelope Register and the Open Envelope Register which are in three forms, Single Words, Phrases, and Long Expressions. Limited Envelope Register has the character that a word, term, name, or mention of something has meaning and refers to something that is the required part in a hotel, while the Open Envelope Register has the character that the word, term, name, or mention of something does not have to be in a hotel and has a function as an additional facility and compliance with health, disaster, hygiene or any protocols in the business and tourism world.
