Abstract :
Writing is one of the most important skills when learning a
language. However, students at Private High School experienced
problem in lack of interest in writing. Based on the existing problems,
teachers needed attractive media so that they could provide good
writing achievement. Story Jumper and Wattpad are great media to
get good writing achievement. This researcher used a qualitative
approach using a pre-test and post-test group design. The researcher
chose cluster sampling as a sample with 36 students using a test in the
form of pre-test and post-testin narrative text to collect data. An
objective test consisting of 10 essay questions. To analyze the data,
the researcher used the T-test formula.
The result showed that the t-test value was 2.368, and the degree
of freedom was 34, the level of significance using the t-table of 0.05
was 1.69092. (2,368 > 1,69092). Based on this hypothesis, the results
of the study showed that there was significant effectiveness using
Story Jumper instead of using Wattpad on students? writing
achievement, so that students learn English in more detail to increase
their understanding and interest in writing.
