Abstract :
This study tries to verify the increase in speaking achievement by using YouTube Media in class X-1 students of SMA Intensive Taruna Pembangunan Surabaya. The main objective is to find out whether YouTube Media can improve students' speaking achievement or not. The reason why this research was conducted was that in the post test 1 held by the researcher, only 9 students met the minimum score criteria (KKM). So, the researcher wants to provide a fun treatment in learning speaking through YouTube Media. The method used was classroom action research conducted in class X-I which consisted of 25 students (14 girls and 11 boys). The instruments used were observation, tests and questionnaires. This research was conducted in 2 cycles which had 4 steps in each cycle, namely planning, implementing, observing. and reflection. The results of data analysis showed that the results of the percentage of cycle I was 36% The percentage of results in cycle II was 80%, this showed that the score in cycle II was better than cycle I. In the post test 1 students who got 80 points up were 9 students (36%) ). Post test 2 students who passed KKM 80 were 20 (80%). Observation findings show that when YouTube Media is used students become more involved and their activities dominate during the learning process. As many as 92% of students gave a positive opinion about YouTube Media stating that YouTube Media is fun and easy for students to learn speaking. Therefore, teaching English speaking using YouTube Media can increase students' speaking achievement.
