Abstract :
This study aims to determine the factor of the reluctance
of English education students to take part in academic support.
This research was specifically focused on finding out why
students are reluctant to take part in academic support
activities. This research design used descriptive qualitative.
Data obtained through unstructured interviews. Data sources in
the form of interview subjects. They was PGRI Adi Buana
University Surabaya students, in the English Language
Education Study Program. Supporting data used a
questionnaire survey taken from English language education
students at PGRI Adi Buana University, Surabaya. Data
collection techniques was transmitted verbally and analyzed
descriptively. The data analysis technique in this study is
thematic analysis. The results showed the factors of student
reluctance to participate in academic support activities. The
factors obtained in the study were the permission factor of
parents, Covid-19, due to work, lack of information and lack of
confidence
