Abstract :
This water hyacinth composite particle board is an alternative board from LDPE - PVC - Water Hyacinth compression which has been powdered and filtered with a size of 60 mesh as a filler, the purpose of this study was to determine the effect of sintering temperature on density and strength, hardness and ductility of composite particleboard. The method of this research is forging parallel particle board molds by varying the sintering temperature of 1600C, 1700C, 1800C, 1900C, 2000C with a compacting pressure of 0.2 atm and a composition of 70% LDPE, 10% PVC, and 20% water hyacinth within 10 minutes. . This test uses the standard ISO 179 (Impact), ISO 2039-1 (Hardness), and the surface of the test object is carried out by SEM photos. The results of this study showed the best properties in the impact test with a value of 6.58 kJ/m2 at a temperature of 1600C, and showed a decreasing nature in the impact test with a value of 5.47 kJ/m2 at a temperature of 1900C. The hardness properties showed the best results at a temperature of 2000C is 37, 67 HRR, and showed a decrease in the hardness properties at a temperature of 1600C is 19.83 HRR.
