ABSTRACT Islamic University 45 Bekasi Faculty of Letters and Languages Communication Studies Program 2021/2022 Christian Eduward Pattinama/ 41182037150100 The Role of Kompas TV in the Village Fund Corruption Case in Cirebon Under the Guidance of Dr. Tatik Yuniarti M.I.Kom The case of corruption in village funds in Cirebon has become a public spotlight in Indonesia. This is because unexpectedly, the complainant of this corruption case, who is the Village Treasurer, was actually named a suspect. In this case, Kompas TV was present as the mass media to oversee this case. Kompas TV performs its function as social control because it considers this case to be very detrimental to the community, especially the small community. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach, data collection techniques by conducting interviews, direct observation and documentation. The data validity technique uses triangulation of sources and data. The results of this study indicate that Kompas TV has played a role in confirming the news on social media about the reporter in the village fund corruption case who was named a suspect. Kompas TV considers this case important to be monitored because corruption in village funds is directly related to the community. In its reporting, Kompas TV can lead to opinions that make the victim free and the revocation of the suspect status given to the victim. This corruption case was finally revealed and the perpetrators could be tried in accordance with the applicable law. Keywords: News, Mass Communication, Kompas TV, Television Media, Television.
