Abstract :
Soil in Muara Gembong Bekasi is a type of soil that has a low CBR value so that structurally the land is not suitable for development. One of the efforts to increase the bearing capacity of the soil is by stabilizing it using additives. The purpose of this study was to find the value of the bearing capacity of the soil stabilized using red brick powder.
The method used is a laboratory experiment. The tests carried out were plasticity index, CBR, UCS and direct shear on the original soil and stabilized soil. This soil stabilization process was carried out by mixing the original soil using red brick powder with a percentage variation of 3%, 6% and 9% of the dry weight of the soil.
Based on the results of the analysis, the original soil is classified as inorganic clay (CL) which has a CBR value of 1.315%. The best CBR value occurs in soil mixed with 6% red brick powder, which is 1.747% at 5mm penetration. This means that there is a change in the CBR value of 32.85% to the CBR value of the original soil. Based on the results of UCS analysis, the best variant was found in soil mixed with 3% red brick powder with a UCS value of 0.391kg/cm2. This means that there is an increase of 3.43% of the UCS value of the original land. The addition of red brick powder is proven to increase the bearing capacity of soft soil.
