ABSTRACT Permatasari, D. 2020.The Second Semester Students? of English Education Study Program Difficulties in Comprehending English for Academic Text Types. Thesis. English Study Program. Faculty of Teacher Training and Education of Jambi University in Academic Year 2019/2020.The First Supervisor is Lilik Ulfiati, S.Pd., M.Pd. The Second Supervisor is Nely Arif, S.Pd., M.Pd. Key words: English comprehension of text type, Academic text This study aimed to investigate the second semester students of English education study program difficulties in comprehending English for academic text types. The students agree that reading takes too long time and process to understand besides, they lake in grammar and limited of vocabulary. Design of the study in this research was survey that involved the use of questionnaire to collect the data about people, their thought and also their behaviours. The participants of this study were 24 students of English department in second semester (one classroom) as the representative of four classes of second semester students in English department from the same year. The result of this study showed that almost all of the difficulty categories stated in this study were experienced by the participants.
