Abstract :
In the modern era, technology can help the teaching and learning process. There are many teachers that used YouTube to help them in the teaching process. The usage of various media and technology in the classroom should be available to both students and teachers. Media offers educators and students original and useful ideas. They give teachers the ability to cater to the diverse wants and interests of their students. This research aimed to describe teachers? perception of using YouTube videos as media in teaching English at SMP N 8 Tanjung Jabung Timur. The data for this research were collected using an interview and then analyzed qualitatively. The subject of this research was English teacher that used YouTube video in teaching English. The result showed that teacher perception of using YouTube video as media in teacheing English was positive perceptions. YouTube is a great learning tool for things like acquiring English skills. Student?s that watch YouTube videos tend to be more engaged and eager to learn.YouTube may be helpful for encouraging pupils during teaching and learning.
