Abstract :
ABSTRACT The purposes of this study were 1) to identify the factors that led to contested divorce in the jurisdiction of the Muara Bulian Religious Court during the Covid?19 pandemic, and 2) the efforts of the Muara Bulian Religious Court in overcoming the issue of contested divorce. This type of research is empirical. The data collected were primary and secondary, while data analysis was carried out descriptively. The results of the study showed that the factors causing divorce in the Muara Bulian Religious Court during the Covid-19 pandemic were constant disputes and quarrels, economic factors and leaving one of the parties, where these three factors became the most dominant factors. the background to the occurrence of a contested divorce in the jurisdiction of the Muara Bulian Religious Court during the Covid-19 pandemic. The effort of the Muara Bulian Religious Court to resolve the divorce issue was to carry out mediation efforts which were carried out in private between the mediator, namely the Judge at the Muara Bulian Religious Court, and the husband as the defendant and the wife as the plaintiff. However, the percentage of mediation efforts to resolve divorce cases in the Religious Courts is smaller than those who decide to divorce. Advice to married couples in Batanghari Regency to really consider the reasons that are indeed serious to be used as material for consideration of filing a divorce suit, so that divorce cases that occur are not only based on minor factors.
