ABSTRACT Ikramullah, Fiza, 2023, Teaching Reading Descriptive Text at Grade 7th of SMPN 1 Bathin II Babeko. Thesis, English Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training Education of Universitas Jambi in Academic year 2022/2023. The first superviso is Dr. Nyimas Triana Safitri, S. Pd., M.Ed, St. The second supervisor is Dra. Radiatan Mardiah, M.Hum. This research aims to describe how English teachers taught descriptive text at 7th- grade students of SMPN 1 Bathin II Babeko. The researcher carried out this research by using a descriptive qualitative method. Data in this research were collected through observation, interview, and documentation. The participant of this research was an English teacher of the 7th grade of SMPN 1 Bathin II Babeko. Based on the findings of this research, it was found that teachers use the discovery learning method in teaching descriptive texts and the process of how English teachers teach descriptive texts. So that the results of this study can be a reference for English teachers in choosing the method used in teaching descriptive text. Key words: Reading, Descriptive Text.
