Abstract :
This study discusses the representation of women in the election for members of the Dairi Regency DPRD for the period 2019 ? 2024 and also analyzes the role of political parties in Dairi Regency in efforts to fulfill the 30% quota of women's representation in the DPRD election in Dairi. In this study the authors used a qualitative method approach and presented it in a descriptive form, which provides a clear and systematic description of the problems studied. This study used a purposive sampling technique in obtaining information. In the data collection process, this study used interview and documentation techniques. Meanwhile, in the process of data analysis, this study used Miles and Huberman's interactive model techniques which included data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of this study show that the representation of women in the election for DPRD Dairi Regency members for the 2019 ? 2024 period is below 30% which is caused by cultural factors where political affairs are the business of men. Then, economic factors make it difficult for women to compete and the level of education in politics is still low. In an effort to fulfill the 30% quota for women's representation, it is necessary to recruit qualified female candidates, provide training and assistance to women, increase awareness of the importance of women's representation.
