Abstract :
Reading is one of the four language skills taught in the English language learning process besides listening, speaking, and writing. The purpose of this research is to analyze the students? difficulties in reading comprehension at eigth grade student and to know the factors of students? difficulties in reading comprehension at eigth grade student. This research is qualitative descriptive. The subjects of this research were the eight graders of junior high school in Tebo specifically in academic year 2022/2023. The data collection techniques the researcher used in this research are observation, interview, and documentation. The result showed that there are four difficulties faced by students in reading comprehension, those are: (1) difficulty in getting meaning of the words (2) difficulty in determining main idea (3) difficulty in making inference (4) difficulty in getting the detail information. There are also three factors causing students' difficulties in reading comprehension. These are: (1) the students are unable to understand the technique in reading comprehension (2) lack of student interest (3) lack of student vocabulary. Regarding difficulties, the first difficulty is difficulty in getting meaning of the words. The second difficulty is difficulty in determining main idea. The third difficulty is difficulty in making inference. The last difficulty is difficulty in getting the detail information. There are three factors that cause students' difficulties in reading comprehension. The first factor is the students unable to understand the technique in reading comprehension. The second factor is lack of student interest. The third factor is lack of student vocabulary.
