Abstract :
The present study investigated students` literacy and attitude in using artificial intelligence in writing thesis. This research was conducted by using mixed method with sequential explanatory design. Ninety-eight students from English study program Universitas Jambi were selected as the participant in this research. In the quantitative phase the researcher administered questionnaire to collect the data and analyzed it by using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics to measure students` literacy and attitude in using artificial intelligence for writing thesis. In the qualitative phase, the data were collected using interview towards six students who were selected purposively. The results of this study showed that students of the English study program had a high literacy and positive attitude in the use of artificial intelligence. Moreover, there was a simultaneous correlate of the two variables on the experience in using artificial intelligence. However, partially these variables did not have a significant effect. The results of this study also showed that artificial intelligence is helpful for students in writing thesis such as finding ideas, finding the right reading sources, paraphrasing, and checking grammar.
