Abstract :
Development pattern of causality is a method of cause-effect and effect-cause (causality) which is used to describe an event and the effect thereof or otherwise. Argument essay is the essay which is aims to convincing the reader to receive and use a doctrine, attitude, and behavior. The problem of the research is how the development pattern of causality in students? argument essay on the XA grade MA Muhammadiyah 1 Watukebo. The purpose of this study is describing the development pattern of causality that is used by the students to write an argument essay. The type of the research is qualitative. The subject of this research is the students of XA MA Muhammadiyah 1 Watukebo. The research area is in the MA Muhammadiyah 1 Watukebo, on April 22nd-28th, 2017. The Data collecting technique use documentation technique. The research instrument is the researcher and auxiliary instruments in the form of a table. The data is analyzed by using descriptive qualitative analyse methods. The words that is obtained from the reduction of the data, then presents the data, and make the conclusion. The result of the analysis of the data shows that sixteen of twenty-four students? argument essay which is used development pattern of causality is correct. Then there are ten argument essays which are used the development pattern of cause-effect and there are six argument essays which are used development pattern of effect-cause. Development pattern of causality in the students? argument essay on the XA grade MA Muhammadiyah 1 Watukebo include cause-effect and effect-cause (causality). From the 24 of students? essays were found that 16 of argument essays. Based on that result, it can be concluded that the students are able to write argument essay by using development pattern of causality
