Abstract :
This research discusses about the swear words that are used by white and black characters in the BlacKkKlansman movie script by using sociolinguistic approach. BlacKkKlansman is 2018 American biograpical crime film directed by Spike Lee and based on the true story of Ron Stallworth a retired American police officer who infilterated to the Ku Klux Klan organization in the early 1970?s. This thesis discusses about the types, purposes, and how racism influence the characters to use swear words. The method of this study is library research. The source are needed to support this paper taken from the movie script ?BlacKkKlansman? and sources that contains the theory of swear words classifications by Batistella, theory of swear words purposes by Rothwell and theory of racism by Neubeck and Glasberg.
