Abstract :
The research entitled women?s language features found in Laureline character?s utterances in Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets Movie, aims to describe the women?s language features based on Robin Lakoff theory and also to reveal the function of women language features found in Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets Movie based on Robin Lakoff and Judy Pearson theory. This research was conducted by using qualitative method, while for collecting the data were watching the movie several times, reading movie subtitle and underlining female character?s utterances containing the women?s language features. From ten features of women?s language, the researcher found nine features used by Laureline in Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets Movie. They are lexical hedges or fillers (25), tag question (2), rising intonation (18), empty adjectives (3), precious color term (0), intensifiers (16), super polite form (4), hypercorrect grammar (7), avoidance of strong swear words (4) and emphatic stress (9).Then, there are language functions served by women?s language found in Laureline character?s utterances in Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets Movie. That function are to express uncertainty, to get response, to emphasize utterances, to express feeling, and to soften an utterance.
