Abstract :
This term-paper discusses about the theme of a literary work of a novel. It talks about the man who confusing love with obsession The discussion is about the theme of a literary work by applying two approaches; intrinsic and extrinsic approaches. The concepts that is applied to analyze through intrinsic approach consists of characterization by using showing and telling methods, plot and setting. For the extrinsic approaches, the concept the writer uses is obsessiv love. This research explains about the reflection of obsessive love of Theo faber, as well as its relation to other intrinsic elements. In this research, The Silent Patientt novel is the primary sources and supported by some of relevant Theories, concepts, and definitions which as secondary sources.
