Abstract :
Figurative language often appears in every literally work and is used by writers
to get special meanings and effects. It deals with imaginative and creative writing.
There are many studies related to analysis of figurative language in the literally work
such novel, song, poem, etc. There are many figurative languages that can be found
from the movie. The purposes of this study are divided into two parts. The first
purpose is to (1) find out the types of figurative language used in ?To All The Boys
I?ve Loved Before Movie Script". (2) The second purpose is to explain the meanings
of figurative language in ?To All The Boys I?ve Loved Before Movie Script".
The approach of this study was qualitative research since it was designed to get
information about the types of figurative language in ?To All The Boys I?ve Loved
Before Movie Script" and its meaning. This research applied descriptive qualitative
method. It means that it does not need statistic approach to explore the material.
Qualitative research is a research which the data written or oral words is descriptively
analyzed. The data are collected by documentation. The primary data taken from ?To
All The Boys I?ve Loved Before? movie script. The secondary data are taken from
many literature books and some relevant materials to support and complete the
primary data sources. The procedure of analyzing the data starts by analyzing
figurative language and explain the meanings of figurative language in ?To All The
Boys I?ve Loved Before Movie Script". From the analysis, the researcher found ten
types of figurative language found in ?To All The Boys I?ve Loved Before? movie
script. There are eleven data classified as hyperbole, four data classified as similes,
one datum as metaphor, one datum as allusion, one datum as cynicism, thirteen
idioms, two personifications, five as irony, one litotes, and one onomatopoeia. Idiom
is figurative language that mostly appears in this movie. Idiom is figurative language
