Abstract :
This term paper discusses the politeness strategies on Instant Family movie by Sean Andres. This research intended to analyze the using politeness strategies by the main characters. The politeness strategies which are; bald-on record strategy, off-record strategy, positive politeness strategy and negative politeness strategy. The aims of the research are (1) to identify the types and dominant of politeness strategies employed by the main characters in the Instant Family movie and (2) to find out the reason why of the dominant strategy appears more frequently in the Instant Family movie. This research used the main data is the script in the movie that supported by written reference and supported by some linguistic sources related to the concept and theories
