Abstract :
This term-paper discusses about the theme of a literary work of a novel. It talks about the girl who has psychological trauma caused sexual abuse experienced by her teacher. The discussion is about the theme of a literary work by applying two approaches; intrinsic and extrinsic approaches. The concepts that is applied to analyze through intrinsic approach consists of characterization by using showing and telling methods, plot and setting. For the extrinsic approaches, the concept I uses is Psychological trauma. This research explains about the psychological trauma caused sexual abuse of Vanessa, as well as its relation to other intrinsic elements. In this research, My Dark Vanessa novel is the primary sources and supported by some of relevant Theories, Concept and definitions which as secondary sources.
