Abstract :
This study aims to explain the types of illocutionary speech acts and their functions found in the utterances of the main character, Mirabel, in the ?Encanto? movie script. The approach used in this research is a qualitative with a qualitative descriptive method to describe and analyze the data. The object of this research is ?Encanto? movie script. The data used in this research are the utterances spoken by the main character, namely Mirabel. The data collection technique used in this study is a documentation technique with movie script as a source of research data. The techniques used in analyzing the data are; 1) identifying data, 2) classifying the data, 3) describing data with analysis, 4) making conclusion. The results of this study are as follows: there are forty data used, two data are classified as the commissive, seventeen data are classified as the directive, three data are classified as the expressive, eighteen data are classified as the representative. No data classified as the declarative. In order to tell the truth to everyone, the character in this movie script, Mirabel, uses representative type of illocutionary speech acts. And also, she is good and persistent girl, so she uses directive, expressive and commissive type of illocutionary act.
