Abstract :
This study is discussing a movie script of Sightless (2020) by Cooper Karl. This movie
script tells the story of Clayton Haley, a man who has multiple personalities or what is now called
dissociative identity disorder (DID) caused by a trauma from his childhood. This term of paper
focuses on a theme of literary works of this script by using intrinsic and extrinsic approach. Through
intrinsic approach, there are the concepts that applies in this study; characterization, plot, and setting.
Through extrinsic approach, there psychology of literature by Sigmund Freud and theory of trauma
and Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) by APA DSM IV. This study is using the qualitative
research, interpretative analysis this study is using method of data collection in the form of script
from Sightless (2020) as the primary resource and supported by some of the literatures to relate the
theories, concepts, and the relevant definition as a secondary source. After analyzing the movie
script of Sightless (2020) by Cooper Karl through the intrinsic approach, that consists of
characterization, plot, setting, elaborated with the extrinsic analysis by using trauma and dissociative
identity disorder (DID) concept. It can be concluded that Clayton Haley as the main character of
Sightless (2020) by Cooper Karl reflects trauma that caused him has dissociative identity disorder
(DID). The result of intrinsic approach that I elaborate with the extrinsic approach are proves that
the theme of this movie script is Trauma That Caused Dissociative Identity Disorder in the Main
Character in Sightless (2020) Movie Script by Cooper Karl.
