Abstract :
This term paper focused on the Denial as Defense Mechanism portrayed by Andrew as the main character, by analyzing denial, I hope to better understand how difficult life experiences can affect a person?s thoughts, feelings and ways of protecting themselves. The purpose of this research is to giving a wider understanding of how stigma and hate affect individuals and can help in fighting against discrimination and promoting acceptance in society. This study uses a qualitative research approach, the object of this research is the movie script Knock At The Cabin by M. Night Shymalan. The technique I use to collect the data in doing this research is reading and understanding repeatedly, marking, and identifying the data. After I collected all the data I identified the data, classified the data, analyzed, described and explained the data I had collected, and finally I make a conclusion of the data. The result of this research is I finally can found the denial on Andrew as the main character through the intrinsic approaches like his characteristics, the plot and setting of the script and the extrinsic approaches through the psychology. After that, I elaborate that two approaches to point out how the denial as defense mechanism reflected throughout the movie script.
